Cumbres and Toltec steam locomotive 487, a k-36, was steamed up
yesterday for the first time this season. She was planned to be in
service on opening day (May 24), but a firebox was discovered. Now
after the firebox problem was fixed and the original work she had
planned got finished. She is back in service for the Cinder Bear Train.
They steamed her up and tested her yesterday and now she is in service.
Since 487 is done the shop can now devote more time to 489 who has been
undergoing complete restorations these past few years. Expect 489 out
soon. Its been a while since 4 K-36's have been in service at the same
time. After 489 gets out work is set to begin on 463, a K-27.
