Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railway

The Cumbres and Toltec travels through 64-Miles over the Former Denver
and Rio
Grand rail system that once stretched for hundreds of miles, throughout
remote sections of Colorado and New Mexico. The railroad
crisscrosses the New Mexico and Colorado border 11 times before
reaching either destination.
If you want scenery you got it. The Toltec Gorge, where the tracks hug
cliffs 600 feet above the stream bed; Windy Point, the highest rairoad
summit in the west with a view of the Chama Valley. The rairoad also
goes through two tunnels and rides above two 100 ft tall trestles. At
the highest
part of the railroad is at Cumbres Pass with an elevation of 10,015,
with elevation
back at Antonito at 7,888 feet.
